The mystery word - Zahour -- Arabic for "Blossom", thus the Lotus in full bloom inspired the story. Temple at Kom Ombo deals with resolving conflict by looking deeper into the things in and of our lives left unfinished or never begun, including things undone either in this or a past lifetime (i.e., Karmic resolve). Since we are part of the holographic whole, being but a fragment of it, we can change and thus what we change then affects the rest (aka. the 100th monkey theory). Therefore, the lotus perfectly symbolizes life it begins as a seed, deep in the river mud and muck then in a moment of inspiration by the creator (what we also refer to as an Aha Moment or Enlightenment spark) it begins growing upwards, yearning ever higher until it suddenly breaches the surface of the water. In this temple, we may use another imagery – That of a switchboard with many wires crossed and visualize untangling them, which epitomizes the healing process in which we might “see” that mess disentangled, one wire or section at a time with each wire being reconnected in the proper circuitry and correcting the error that redirects the flow of energy in a new and healthy way. This healing symbolized here by the journey to light by the lotus, I offer symbolic for our yearning from the trials and tribulations of the old year as we reach, dream and pray for a productive, prosperous and happier New Year.

Putrid, stinking rotting vegetation collected in the bed of the Nile basin, fertile ooze beneath the waters of Nun. Just a glimmer of light through murky water is all it will take. The eye blinks back in response to a sense of yearning, willing that the seed to seek the source of light above the surface, unable to penetrate where it lies stagnant without breath. It is the seed of a blue lotus, dormant but for the tiny glimmer of hope germinating within its heart. It cries mindlessly for suckle, sensing the hawk flying so close to the rippling current overhead.
“Skry, come to me quickly,” Sokar screams fresh from the Halls of Amenti, soon to become Horus in the morning sun.
The seedling sprouts, striving upward but is snagged by strange plant tendrils twisted in a mass of confusion and cannot climb further toward consciousness until free of what chokes it. If only disentangled free to breach the surface, breathing in the sweet hot air. That mass is old fear of success and the way self-pity can flourish as a convenient crutch when things are too difficult or cannot work as planned. Ego and worry sustain as a strong stem and grow stronger by the brackish water of broken emotional connections and empty arms for children never birthed. Nourished by energy used to push others away, deal with disappointment and abandonment incorrectly and fear, the strange genus has mutated into this stifling place to hide from it all.
With fists formed by newly scaled wisdom at the realization and resolution that the ego, reptilian brain is weak without the integration of the divine mind, I am that lotus striving to grow. I yank, rip and tear at the wiry tendrils trying desperately to redirect their energy and correct its flow. Those tendrils have grown into the deepest part of my own guts so that the pain is like an electric shock, but for only a moment. Then they release their hold and I am free. It is easier than I would expect possible had it not been for the preparation that has come before within the sacred temples, lessons learned through life’s experiences and variety of rituals performed.
Fear was once the result of yellow slits and the triple-lidded eyes of the crocodile that glares for this time I am successful, emerging from the watery dark, swimming toward the light. I know that I can embrace the past, heal old tenuous relationships and times when fear chokes me from speaking truth or creates limitations upon all that I believe thus as impossible. Instead, I chose to embrace even the painful relationships and experiences as lessons for the soul and learn to trust my heart when my mind argues otherwise. I know I can welcome all that the past has taught by experience and use the wisdom it provides to formulate the future—as difficult or productive as it must be for the highest good.
At last, the delicate blue tinged petals of the lotus open one by one; laying so gracefully and gently upon the sparkling surface, glittering as sequins under the bright sun. Satisfied, Sobek sinks back into the darkness, his task finished. He passes the task to the russet hawk soaring overhead a symbol of the heightened mind and whose wings touch the heart, granting it the will to fly. Ra balances at the zenith of the sky.
While this lesson may take many forms, the messages from the Spirit world (the Neteru) shall be welcomed in whatever form they are revealed or given in ways of which I cannot imagine just now. All I hope is that I may give even myself no cause for self-doubt, only to know. I can only hope the application shall be as evident as the realization has been. This, too, is my wish for everyone who understands the quest of the lotus.
A BLESSED, PROSPEROUS AND EXTREMELY JOY-FILLED 2016 TO ALL!
